WHAT IS SOLID OR ORGANIC WASTE AND ITS MANAGEMENT PROCESS?

Solid organic waste includes every kind of natural garbage, meal residues, half-cooked food, gardening or lawn scraps, etc. Generally, solid natural scraps like dead leaves & flowers, grass clippings, roots of vegetables can easily decompose in the soil. But certain natural scraps like residual food, kitchen wastage, manufacturing solid scraps require a little processing otherwise it emits toxic greenhouse gases.

Interested to explore eco-friendly ways to manage your garbage

Here is a list of things which you can follow :

Distribute excess agricultural stock
Many times, excess agricultural stock of onions, vegetables, and fruits, etc stay in the warehouse due to less demand. All this excess inventory starts to rot in the godown of distributors. You can sell such stock to poor families at low prices or donate it to students in municipal schools. This can stop unnecessary wastage at large.

Organize your garbage
It is the first step in managing daily garbage generated. You have to separate the wet junk from the dry junk. This is necessary because the process of disposing of both junks is different. Wet garbage can be disposed of using waste composting machines like  Goldust. It organically decomposes wet materials without using any harmful chemicals. The process is fully natural and does not harm the environment.

Donate leftover healthy food
When leftover food is dumped in dustbins or half-eaten food is left on the roads, it attracts flies, mosquitoes, rodents in that area. This may spread various diseases like cholera, dengue, malaria in nearby areas. Instead, you can donate any excess cooked food, cereals, rice available in good condition to needy families. It stops their hunger, secures humans from various diseases, and takes care of the environment from greenhouse gases emitting due to rotten food.

Manage manufacturing scraps
A huge quantity of green scraps is generated at food manufacturing units, dairy industries, and in poultry farms. Manufacturing units may include the preparation of chocolates, biscuits, chips, etc. You can reuse the wasted scraps again in the production process wherever possible. Also, it is possible to recycle or upcycle wasted scraps.  Cow dung generated in poultry farming can be used as rich fertilizer or as a useful building material. If there is nothing you can do with generated green garbage, then you can simply compost it using Goldust or sell or donate it to someone who finds it useful.

Composting
All the green scraps generated after use can be converted into compost. This is the most cost-saving, nature-friendly, easier and effective way of disposing of wet scraps. Creating compost naturally does not harm the environment but benefits it. We can use it as a fertilizer to grow fruits and vegetables. Manufacturing sectors can produce their raw material in house by using this manure as a fertilizer to grow crops.

You can follow different methods like direct composting, vermicomposting, etc for making compost. But all these methods are a bit tedious and time-consuming. Instead, you can buy automatic waste composting machine-like Goldust. These machines decompose wet scraps fast and in an odorless, noiseless, and maintenance-free way. The produced manure can be used as a natural fertilizer to enrich plants, grow fruits and vegetables, etc. You can visit LAHS Eco Engineering’s website to find more fruitful information regarding Goldust.
